Approx 33 pink, red, fluffy hashers, and their wonderfully kitted out pets, even Hoggies Boots making an appearance with little red hearts on, merrily gathered In Chudleigh car park. It was great to see some returnees and some visitors although I thought hell! It‟s gonna be a fast one tonight as they all looked bloody fit (But not in the attractive way) clad in their non pink lycra.
A quick briefing then off, straight into a Long / Short split knowing Chudleigh I though of sticking to the shorts as roads and me do not mix. Myself and Rubber Johnny taking the lead I heard a distant cry which seemed to go along all the hashers wondering what was going on I stopped and the message got delivered – “PP can you do the WORDS!!!” I searched in vain through my „hash handbag‟ to see if I had a pen and notebook. No! I‟ll have to rely on my dodgy memory then!
Within in 2 seconds Slippery ran past sporting my borrowed red heart knickers and said that he was very proud that he got into PP‟s knickers!!!! GREAT!!! Buzby replied “we don‟t want to know who‟s been in PP Knickers!!!!” The
Truth- so has Number 2, last year!!!!
We passed over the A38 and hung a left down a long lane paralleling the main road. Myself and Rubber Johnny came across a Fish Hook so back we went which was great as I got to see a great sight of Coffin, Puss in Boots and Whoopsie holding their own in the middle of the pack (you have all been missed), Coffin with sheer determination to get a training session in ready for the Grizzly. (I admire her for giving it a go and all for a great cause, we wish you luck xx) Just as I made it back to the front I was hit again with another FH. This time I got a nice bit of gossip on my return. It was reported whilst Slippery was showing off his superman physique in the knickers, he got so excited he slipped and ended up twisting his ankle and was in serious pain. Oh Slippery!!!!
We turned and crossed some field in which almost every one of the Shorts were checking, I went wrong as normal and heard Buzby call On On over the style and onto a regroup where the Longs then caught us up, perfect timing. From here it was a L/ S split on a footpath, so I decided to go Longs and first off on the mark I got about 20 meters. It was a little steep, and with the wrong shoes on I could not get traction and every other long passed me. I decided to go back the foot path taking us down and down, and now at the front of the pack I came across a FH so I went back. But, I was the only one questioning why no one else had come back? I was told there was no FH, worried I was now seeing things I checked and yes there was no FH!!!! Duhhhhh!!!! We got to the bottom and onto the Sweety Stop, 5 mins later the Longs appeared.

I was first to arrive in the dark lay-by before the turn off to Sidmouth (which is too far) on St Andrews day, complete with typical Scottish liquid moonlight. Slowly cars began to arrive, including our new regular visitors from Otter Valley; after all we were on their home turf. We circled up with a few mad Scotts dressed in kilts and anything tartan they could find. The hares told us there were 4 long short splits and the usual fish hooks and back checks, and we will get a sweetie stop, FF was proudly carrying them in his sporran.

We were set off down the road to find our first check straight into the woods. Cousteau, Spocky and Boots went off to check it out, on one was called, followed by HOW MANY AND ON? HOW MANY AND ON? It was one and on apparently, as the hares forgot to mention. The trail lead up deeper into the woods where there was no shortage of mud and puddles in true hash style, and in keeping with the Scottish theme there were no shortage of hills, it would have been just as hilly in the Highlands! It was then on to the first long short split taking us in a loop which re-joined the shorts and downhill for a change, the steep slope and mud got the better of me and I slipped up in front of PP, Puss in Bootless, Soapy and Whoopsie much to their delight as I received a big cheer. As we carried on down, all that could be heard was Puss in Bootless shouting I WANT MY BIKE!! I WANT MY BIKE!! As we were on a very good mountain bike trail.

On to another long short split which funnily enough was up hill to a check which took ages to find the right way, with many of us checking the same place twice, eventually Cousteau led us on to a regroup for the sweetie stop. We were set off again to find another long short split which took us up yet more hills and down the most slippery part of the trail, (again I fell over) then on to a regroup on the old Sidmouth railway line, where Boots in Puss and Quick Rukka were nowhere to be seen. When Slippery finally joined us, the shorts we told to wait behind and the longs were set off to follow the first part of the trail to On Home. We arrived back at the lay-by to find the some of the shorts and Boots-in-Puss and Quick Rukka had already got changed. Our considerate RA Spocky moved the circle away from the sleeping lorry drivers, and awarded the following Scottish down downs and scotch eggs.

Words for ISCA Run on Wednesday 16th November 2011 at Haldon Hill Racecourse
For all that it was a clear starry night with just a hint of drizzle there was a surprisingly reduced turn-out. The circle gathered and Larks explained the format of the trail – 3 miles short, four plus miles long, various long/short opportunities, a couple of fish-hooks and a sweetie-stop. The assistant hares, PP and FF looked after the hashers and Larks looked after the walkers and sweets.
So off we went, longs to the left and quite a lot of shorts to the right. Shorts included Buzby and Screech who walked to the first check in order to claim the run then vanished, never to be seen again. I’m sure I saw X-bits at the start but then then she too vanished. Endo and I, along with Rise and Shine, stuck with Larks who was being pulled along by the ever-increasing power of his young dog Kura. I think Lark’s should get one of those mountain skate boards then Kura could happily pull him all round the trail.
We came to an open area in the woods for the sweetie stop and waited patiently, discussing women’s sense of navigation, zilch according to Larks, versus all the prowess of male hashers – many-fold according to Larks, although at least Rise-and-Shine got one in about the female ability to multi-task. Thus we passed the time whilst awaiting the arrival of the longs. We could hear them calling and see their lights through the trees, they just didn’t seem to be getting any closer so we opened up the jellies and conversation ceased – you cannot talk with a mouthful of glutinous sticky sweets.
At last the Longs arrived, grabbed their sweets and shot off quickly again, leaving us to follow on the shorter route. It may have been shorter in distance but in time it seemed much longer as we struggled to find the marks in over-grown, boggy tussocky areas of felled woodland. At last we were out, and with ever-dimming torches picked up a wide forest track back to the cars.
In the circle once more there remained only thirteen hashers, three of whom were hares so where did everyone else get to? Spocky-Bitz was RA for the evening and suitably thanked the hares, notwithstanding a potential domestic between FF and PP but actually caused by Lark’s placing a check in the wrong place. Larks and FF drank their beer but PP had to decline – something to do with having eaten marzipan. Damp Patch had a beer for his emerging Movember tache – good on you, keep it growing! Emelda had a beer for being an FRB, so what’s new? Tear-Arse and Mateus Rose didn’t get a down-down – you must make more effort to get noticed you know! Neither did Melon Picker nor Soapy although Havoc barked valiantly in full voice to ensure he was heard. There still remained one beer which was offered to Woof-Woof for apparently calling on when it wasn’t but being off the booze that night she offered it to me but I couldn’t face it and was about to offer it to Endo when Spocky-Bitz claimed it. It seemed he had placed his hand over a blob on top of a post to hide a mark but rumour had it no mark had been placed there so it must have a been a passing bird dropping – Ugh, Yuk, don’t ever shake hands with Spocky-Bitz again.

It had been a dark, damp and blustery day which was no doubt the main reason that only the most hardy hashers gathered in Magdalen street car park in Exeter (except Balls Up who isn’t hardy at all).

By the evening however the weather was settled and as Bell Toll welcomed us all to tonight’s hash energy levels and enthusiasm seemed high.

Spocky was pleased to be out, bouncing around like he had springs in his feet. His lovely wife X-bitz had been due to hash tonight instead of him, but instead decided to stay at home and go to bed with a little man inside her.

Quick Rukka must have been annoyed that Spocky had come in X-bitz’s place (!!) as he was trying to kick Spocky in the face. While attempting a high kick he only succeeded in spraying gravel in Spocky’s eyes. I don’t blame you for being annoyed Quick Rukka, we got the short straw getting Spocky instead of X turning up to the hash!

Bump and Grind was back from Afghanistan, sporting a rather large bullet hole in his leg. Good to see him back in (more or less) one piece and already running faster than most of us despite having recently been shot by the Taliban.

Imelda the hare set us on our way before disappearing to set some sections of the trail live. He must have had a good head start though as we didn’t see him until the sweetie stop.

Only the most foolish among us braved the long which was certainly a long one and a fast one. A false check that instead turned out to be a circle painted on the pavement nearly caused us to loose Menage a Trois, but we somehow kept together and made it over the wobbly bridge to the sweetie stop in a little playground by the river.

After the SS we crossed the river to the quay and headed up those oh-so-steep steps next to the Prospect. I was lucky and avoided the fishhooks so only had to do them once.

Our grand tour of Exeter then took us past ‘the house that moved’ and down past the dark and spooky catacombs. Our resident ghostbuster, Wide Receiver, wasn’t scared though as he had recently managed to exorcise a ghost from his bedroom simply by asking it to get lost. The Iron Bridge, High street and Cathedral green completed our route as we returned out of breath and glowing to the car park.

On in to GMH for a beer and a burger. Yum.

hi all please find enclosed my very factual and informative words from last wednesday. onon boots.

Isca h3 words for Wednesday 12 October

So with the full moon hash only just up the road we at ISCA were graced with a small and exclusive circle at the start.
So with only our 10 VIP hashes narcisis gave us a brief on how would be met with the greatest hash of the year so far but only after bell toll had finished rattling his empty key tin. We were looking forward to it been laid in only the finest and purest powder as promised by the hare and we even had promise of no less than 4 bags of sweets at the sweetie stop.
So off we hashed with bell toll and Buzzby FRB'n and leading the pack. Admittedly In the wrong direction but non the less they lead the pack. So with the pack not really been sure if it was even a one and on or three and on. ( not sure if the hare knew either) we eventually guessed it was a one and on. At least that's what we followed!
So it was great to see troy from otter valley looking fabulous as ever. Oh and also mini baar turned up as well. It was however a shame for them that they seemed to find the longest back check ever and nearly ended up in Exeter! So the trail led us to the highly anticipated sweetie stop where every one was guessing what luxurious sweets mr hare could have got us. It was a shame however that the sweetie stop shared it location with a crowd of rioting and looting teenagers descending upon the Topsham scout hut. So with the presence of riot police and armed marksman on guard we decided that we had no reason to fear for our safety. We have reason to believe from reading the local paper that the riot was stared in the first place by youths fighting over bags of sweets. Which would explain how our sweetie stop only had one bag left when we got there. And as we enjoyed our only remaining bag one of the hooded youths approached our small gaggle of hashes and decided to investigate of presence. I at this time was fearful for my life and ready to run for it but luckily a pregnant X-Bitx stepped in and roundhouse kicked the youth to the floor before he could pull out his knife and steal our remaining bag of sweets.
So with all this excitement over and our whiteness statements filled in for the police we decided to continue with the hash. I'm glad we continued when we did because at this stage night screecher pointed out one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. A full blown rainbow in the dark. A bright light across the other side of the Ex was casting a rainbow in the mist across the river. Beautiful.
So our trail continued through the steep hills of Topsham I heard a loud screeching and lots of shouting from whoopsie. Turned out she was lucky enough to find £200 on the floor. This was truly turning out the be the best trail of the year. That was of course until we got to the circle to find out that spooky Bitz had left the beer in his car. This wouldn't have been a problem but whoopsie was driving. We had no choice but with the discovered £200 go the the bar and get 3 bottles of the bridges finest champagne. I can tell you first hand it not easy doing a down down with the fizzy stuff. Had us belching and burping like......... Well hashers!

So the down downs were.
Narcisis - laying best trail of the year. ( you had to be there to believe it)
Boots in puss - walking because of a terrible knee injury
Buzzby - running and getting an injury!
X-Bitz - for not stopping playing with her big boobs
Screech - something about little boobs. (bubbles had gone to my head)
Mini Barr & troy - sex on the hash! And visiting
Whoopsie - for finding £200 and paying for champagne and pasties
Spooky Bitz- forgetting the beer and making us drink fizzy wine!

Think that's about everything. I will leave the story about bell toll catching a wild badger and x-Bitz saving a bus load of school kids till my next turn around the alphabet.

The trail
T’was a dark night last Wednesday, so all had torches. Just as well as it allowed everybody to read the hand-outs as the circle was being formed!!
After a crafty loop for the longs at the start we all headed over the bridge to some new hashing territory for many. The longs soon overtook Larks, PP and Kura. Full marks to PP for trying to train Larks, it’s a tough job but………………….(answers on the back of a postcard)? Anyhow Kura seemed to know what she was doing.
Over the road, then into the woods and along some tracks or were they ditches? Anyhow I eventually emerged onto a proper track to find the FRb’s nowhere in sight.
Now at the back of the pack with No 2 and a few BWb’s we came across two massive circles in the middle of the track with SS in their centres, but no pack to be seen. Well we couldn’t waste the sweets so we tucked into the very best M & S had to offer.
A few hundred yards down the track the rest of the pack appeared. How did they miss the SS?
Luckily for the rest of the pack No 2 would not let us eat all the sweets so all tucked in again!! In fact they were so good that Wide Receiver decided to have some of Spocky’s while it was in his mouth and bit Spocky’s lip in the process. It takes all sorts!!
After crossing the roundabout and a short stretch through some more wood we were on home.

No 2 arranged some excellent hot grub for us all. So hot that juggle the sausage was a skill much in evidence.

hopefully there weren't to many hangovers from last nights AGPU!Thank you Stix for the fast trail, letting us get back to the Stowey Arms in good time and thanks to the pub for the wonderful buffet.
Congrates to Bell Toll on getting his 2nd term as Grand Master much deserved.
On Sex also has a familiar face, Night Screecher, well she does a great job.
As does Whoppie as our Hash Cash.
We have a new addition to our current RA's, welcome back Spokey Bitz and well done Flying Fokker and No.2 for a great time last year.
Our Hare Raiser stays as Painted Pussy, who else could do such a great job?

Menage Et Trois Run
Good turn out, despite the weather! I spotted Pnut, Horny Woman, Rambo, Torpedo, Roger the cabin
boy (HAHAHAHA) and her friend Sandy, even poor Bump N Grind shivering miserably beside me in the
car park. I didn't see Bell Toll and Buzby until the very last possible moment, despite Menage laying
huge white arrows and signs for the carpark. Welcome back to Balls up and Damp Patch too ;o)
We set off late, stampeding joyously unto ....the main road. With dubious shakes of our forelocks and a
well timed holler from Quick Rukka, we set off again over a grassy stretch and into a park. "It's not a
race!" was heard as Pnut was trampled underfoot. Almost instantly Blue Ass Fly, QR Bump, FF and I were
snared by a fishhook. We were a little later than Menage had anticipated in hitting the estuary, as the
water was lapping our ankles for several hundred slippery meters. Blue scaled an alcove in the rock, but
FF Bump and Chocolate Trots (to their peril) did not, and ended up in water up to their hips .0))
We scrambled clear and squelched merrily on to a hastily converted regroup, giving the walkers a
chance to catch up and Bump to regain some ascendancy. ("I thought you were fit?! ") Was heard
several times. On on to a W/S/L split and through various parts of hilly Bisphopsteighton culminating in
a well placed sweetie stop. Another split, and Longs went on a lovely circular route up a steep hill to a
ridiculous drawing of a camera/tv (apparently a viewpoint, but too much mist) and a baffled QR asking if
we could continue. FF and Blue had a race downhill with Bump pulHng agonized faces and breaths, arms
outstretched behind them. The serenity of the sea mist^nd lowing cows was shattered by an unholy
bellow as Blue noticed QR had missed the fishhook. wAhen told QR there more people on behind us.
There weren't.
I was tripping merrily through some fields wh er shout rent the air. "watch out for the dog!" I
was already staring at the sky, having not seen the darnn thing before the warning had finished. A
young, ownerless golden retriever galumphed along, tongue lolling dopily until we reached road again
and half a dozen stone hearted hashers told him to go home.
The last L/S split was removed as we'd done a I miles already. There was some confusion as
Menage had told Slippery to ignore a fishhook (as is s custom ;o)) but Slippery had not passed this on
to any of us. Yet when we inevitably shouted for o come back, he feigned no knowledge of the
fishhook at all! Very slippery indeed!
On home to the carpark and a mini trail to his house, #ere we had our circle up. Quick Rukka for
reasons best known to himself, dobbed himself in ' shoes ( and those were not designed for n
running QR) and our visitors all got a song each Cath /M James (?) cooked a wonderful bbq, even
though we hightailed it indoors, and Menage laid trail Shame if you missed it!

Isca Hash House Harriers 20/07/2011 Run Number 761

Trail: Liverton Hares: Mellon Picker and Soapy On Down: Star Inn

I thought I'd try the Words in rhyme - my inspiration’s Soapy -
But I'm a chemist not a poet, and so at times it might get ropey.
We rocked up bright and early to the Star Inn’s car park,
The only other hashers there were Kura and her Larks.
Kura bounded up to Lilo, who she was very pleased to see,
So excited was the dog in fact she had a little pee.
A few short minutes later and there'd gathered quite a crowd,
The cheers around the circle were, as usual, quite loud.
The hares had done a cracking job; it was an awesome trail,
Despite someone's best efforts to force it all to fail,
Whilst laying that they were followed by some pesky little shit
Who was scrubbing all the flour away, intent on spoiling it.
On the run I was oblivious til my suspicions were piqued -
Wide Receiver yelled out 'onto check' when he'd drawn it with his feet!
The air was hot and sticky; at times it felt like we were cooking,
There were branches, holes and mud galore to catch those who weren’t looking.
The route was full of twists and turns, snaking through the forest,
With a soggy sweetie stop to give us all a well-earned rest
Except if you were a veggie - we were left to starve and sob -
As hashers all around us got stuck in and stuffed their gobs.
Later we broke out from the trees, and ran back into the light
Out on the road, turn right and hark! the pub came into sight.
Down downs were aplenty, and right up No. 2’s street
What with humping on the hash, innuendo and lots of meat.
'So,' FF asked the circle, 'Who here doesn't have a name?'
'I ain't' shouted Rich, so 'Dick I ain't' he became!
Then time to relax, with beer and grub, or so we thought,
But with stressed forgetful barmaids it all became quite fraught,
Plates and plates of food came out, but rarely what we'd said,
Best was Lilo’s baguette, which was distinctly lacking bread.
Tired, (fed) and watered, it was then time to be gone
And there's really nothing else to say except a last On On!

As I stood there cutting the fruit, I thought, why have I made so much, fruit salad, I know what hashers are like, they’ll never eat this much!

The hasher started to turn up at Lilo’s pad, they drifted in, most in pyjamas although No.2 must have miss-heard cos she turned up dressed as Tigger!

We circled up and our hare, Lilo, gave us our instructions, dressed in just a shirt, easy boys! Local knowledge helped keep the FRB’s from getting away as a well placed back-check sent us towards some farm land that led towards Orcombe point. Fish-hooks a plenty made sure no-one got away, Rubber Jonny was let off by Spokey Bitz as he did his fish-hook for him.

As we all got down to the monument the group noticed that we were missing Bell Toll and Melon Picker, I don’t remember a pub being on the way, so they must have been lost, they actually found a short cut, which wasn’t short. The assembled, PJ attired hasher had a chat while we waited, some of us were feeling a bit adventurous and climbed down the old blocked off stairway that led down to the beach. The views were lovely I thought until I turned to go back up and Buzby was stood at the top with his dressing gown flapping open, all I can say is it must have been cold!

Off we went again, a long short split of types, on road or extreme off road was the choice but both guided us to the zigzag path. Crafty fish hook again kept the pack together. Slippery tried his best to get out of doing his turn but Ménage Etoir made sure he counted him with a pat to the head.

Another regroup awaited, over looking the welcoming vista. Again some of us, only me actually, couldn’t help but take a dip in the sea, very cooling. I don’t know why no-one else joined in? There was another long/short split, short across the top, easy going and the longs across the beach. There was a lovers tiff between Poacher and Spokey about sand getting in cracks or something like that but it made an interesting sight.

The run across the beach was worth the sweets waiting for us at the park. After much scoffing, we were off again, much to the amusement of the local youths who had a good laugh at the mentals dressed in PJs.

Nearly home, we had a quick jaunt through more farmland, this time calves, not cows Lilo, wanted to join us. I remember Lilo saying, as she climbed over the style, “bloody cows”. Hang on girl, you laid it through here!! She said they were hiding from her when she laid the trail, waiting to jump out on her when she wasn’t looking.

The food at the OD, well what can I say? Squashed Danish meat balls, cheeses, crackers, tiger bread, chilli, quiches, cheeses, salarmi, chilli and more cheeses were consumed. Loved it. And as I said at the beginning, why did I bother making so much fruit salad, no-one bloody touched it!!

ISCA H3 WORDS FOR RUN FROM DOUBLE LOCKS 15/06/11

A goodly bunch of hashers turned out for BELLTOLL’S run from the scrumptious Double Locks pub which brings back lovely memories of cozy winter evenings and a roaring log fire. Ah well, won’t be long now – evenings are pulling in by the time you read this!! Soon be Xmas.

SPOCKY looked all hot, wet and bothered, well he would, having run from home to the hash, a mere 8 ½ miles. Good effort you may think, but he’s only doing it cos he’s got fat!! (to the amazement of MAMA RUCKA later back at the ondown).

Where is TWICE KNIGHTLY who’s birthday is two days hence? Oh she went to the LUNATICS hash. Wasn’t even a full moon, it was eclipsed. I learned later that she and CLEVER DICK called in during the warm down in the pub.

We were just about to circle up when there was a screech of brakes as LILO LIL and crew arrived WOODPECKER style (late). Circle up we did to the tones of our GM BELLTOLL who did the intros then introduced himself as the hare. A bit of this and a bit of that, SS en route and off we went.

“Steady on” said ODDBITZ to himself out loud “You’re running”. Along the canal path we went for a long long way until a back check. There were many mutterings about going all the way back, but it was not to be as a bit of short cutting got us back on trail. “Onon” shouted BUZBY . I’ll say that again – “Onon” shouted BUZBY. But hey, later on it turned out that both BUZBY and SCREECH were true front runners, checkers and finder of trails. On the other hand, Poor LILO LIL did false trail after false trial. Don’t go to gambling dens for a while. Even the virgin DOM was doing false trails – he must have been on a hash training weekend or something – what a runner – dodgy knees and all – doing fishhook after fishhook – he’ll have to go. Either that or get kneecapped.

Then there was NUMBER 2 who I was told had been crushed by a horse, or wrestled with a horse, something like that. But no, NUMBER 2 tells me that she is just a bit creaky at the moment. Hashers??

We got to the SWEETY STOP ,marked SSO or OSS depending which side you looked from. A pleasant spot overlooking the river. We worked out that SSO was a coded message from the hare and stands for ‘SLING SLIPPERY OVER’. SOAPY came amongst us – let me rephrase that – moved amongst the gathered hashers giving out imaginary sweets because we were waiting so long for the hare. Did anyone see him carrying sweets? He eventually turned up and from his bumbag appeared real sweets. One bag was thrown to the crowd and in his keenness to get the sweets SLIPPERY ran forward only to see said sweet bag whistle over his head! A fair mix of sweeties were quickly devoured. “Check it out” called the hare.

Ambitious fishhooks for 10 was found but it wasn’t long before the smell of beer was in the air which meant we weren’t far from the OH. I came in along the psychopath just behind LILO LIL and DOM and had to call them back because they went right past the car park!

Soon we were circling up where SPOCKY and XBITZ did some stand in RAing as poor old (oops!) NUMBER 2 was out of sorts. SPOCKY announced that by running around in a circle or two at the end of the trail he had clocked up a total of 13.1 miles that evening. Should be back to fighting weight already.

“What did we think of the trail?” – Brilliant. No hills, no water, no mud!

The Words

Forty hashers arrived at the Tally Ho, yes you did read that right, four-zero, two score, XL, 101000, probably our highest number on a normal hashing night. Word had got around that it was a Balls-up trail and so hashers turned up from far and wide, because it is well known in these parts that the sun shines out of Balls-ups behind so anything associated with him is going to be faultless! Or is that Damp Patch? I do get the two muddled up.

X-Bitz's bright pink trousers, which along with the Great Wall of China are the only man-made objects visible from space, acted like a beacon to direct hashers to the opening circle. Bell Toll, our illustrious GM, introduced the visitors to many cheers from the assembled horde. Boots-In-Puss got up to mischief straight away dropping an ice cube down Spocky's neck. The hare did a very bad job drawing a wonky check to send the hashers on our way, and this got some of us worried. Maybe he isn't perfect after all? could this be a sub-standard trail?

Off we set into the back streets of Countess Wear. Very soon we were in a playground and as hashers are inclined to do we were all soon clambering over the obstacle course like monkeys (well the trail did go that way). Some larkin' about the ensued much to the amusement of a group of local kids in the park. Oh what a wonderful thing it is to be a wise and mature adult.

Finally the last hasher was coerced and disentangled from the play equipment and we could continue off toward Topsham. Two police officers gave us some puzzled looks

as they cruised slowly past. Probably wondering what jail we had escaped from (or zoo in some cases).

At this point Boots-In-Puss decided that everything was going far too smoothly so ran into the middle of a road without looking. Cue a screech of brakes and some very naughty language from the driver.

On down a long and empty road to the sweetie stop. Stix attempted to demonstrate the some of the laws of physics; Simple harmonic motion and resonance, although to the untrained eye this may have looked like vandalising a lamppost and acting like an unruly, delinquent child.

After running through the new housing estate we emerged onto Rydon lane. Like a heard of wildebeest crossing a crocodile infested river we swarmed across the

busy road and into Ludwell valley park. Balls-Up confessed to being in trouble with his partner, Nicky, for forgetting their 5th anniversary and then going hashing instead of spending the evening with her. He tried to buy his way out of it with flowers but I think you are going to have to do better than that Ballsy. I hear diamonds are a girl's best friend.

Well back to the trail and I naively decided to follow Puss in Bootless and Whoopsie on a 'shortcut' despite the Hare going a different way. "It will be quicker this way" said Puss. "We'll beat the others". Very soon her tune had changed to "Well at least it's a bit of an adventure, a road less travelled" as we picked our way through waist deep tufts of grass and thistles. We emerged way behind the hashers who had gone the other way, having picked up a few bugs along the way.

Back at the pub after an hour and five minutes, exactly what Balls-Up had predicted. How could we have ever doubted him.

Buzby watered down Bear Essentials down down beer and was stunned when someone suggested the beer was made worse by water.

Straight after the circle Chardonnay was whisked to the hospital by Wide Receiver having developed a severe reaction to something nasty on the trail (hope you are feeling better Chardonnay). Lilo Lil enjoyed scoffing Wide Reciever's chips in the pub.

Quote of the week:
As Buzby stripped off his top in the circle, causing the alarmed residents of Countess Wear to think the grizzly bear had escaped from Paignton Zoo, Wide Receiver commented "Isn't he lush".

Updates and words

I thought seems I can't sleep very well at mo that I should do some house keeping. S I have updated the links, all should now work!! sorry it's taken so long to get sorted but a little thing called work has been getting in the way! I have also added Isca statistics, which have been supplied by Buzby and I'm sure Night Screech too. Makes interesting reading

A mid-summer barbeque hash for Buzby’s birthday was the enticement for this week’s ISCA hash.
A goodly number turned up, including Lizzie a virgin hasher from last week along with a French friend Lucy, and Rubber Johnny - a visitor from Plympton hash. They were welcomed and without further ado Buzby announced, “ON! ON! That way” and we were off.
Poacher and Quick Rucka, similarly cloned, sped off and were not seen until the sweetie stop.
The rest of us followed the chalk/flour to Digby Station, where there was a train waiting to go to Exeter. As there were some hashers still to come when the train left, Buzby scratched his head (head, who said head!) pondered about Plan B (the train to Topsham) and then sent us on Plan C over the railway, and around the houses until we too arrived at the sweetie stop and gathered sedately, chatting peacefully. A few moments later there was a squawk and a flutter and Number 2 came running into sight, arms flapping like some demented duck and daisies dangling off her bosom. Whew! All having munched boiled sweets and chewed sticky things we were just setting off again when there was a call of “Wait” because some hashers had not yet turned up. Shortly after, along came Boots in Puss and Lilo, nobody discovered where they’d been or what they’d been up to but they were red-faced and gasping – maybe Number 2 had been doing her flying duck party trick over them too.
So it was on, over the footbridge which trembled and shook under the weight of twenty-five runners, and down onto stable ground by Exeter Chiefs club. A neat little long/short split along the railway ensured that we all turned up back at base pretty much altogether, where we smelt the hungry-making wafts of barbeque food.
Some people enjoy their birthdays, some are maudlin and some get frisky. For whatever reason Buzby, this week’s birthday boy, was up to at least two of those and attacked Xbitz’s bottom. Her comment was ‘Buzby is the best Slapper!’ Obviously a very informed opinion!
Down downs went to the visitors, French Lucy and Rubber Johnny, then to the Birthday Boy and hares, then to the sinners Poacher and Rucka for looking alike, and to Tampa and Blue-arsed fly, for coming late, to Slippery for provocative body language (or something) and later on, to the Chefs Trill-Bee, and Brains, for running the barbeque and baking the puddings. All of that, along with Buzby’s Bar and Screech’s Gin Palace, made for a jolly fine evening.

7 Old Rydon LeyThe weather's looking good so it's gotta be BBQ season!
I've also brewed 3 beers for the occasion; a mild at 3.3%; and a bitter at 3.4% and a blond at 5% (all approx!). If nothing there tempts you, then it may be as well to bring your own.
Unfortunately Old Rydon Lane is closed south-west of our house and therefore you will need to go via Sandy Gate, unless you know your way through the new estate from Topsham Road. As you turn into Old Rydon Ley from Old Rydon Lane, number 7 is directly in front of you. Turn left and then right to access the court yard for parking, otherwise you'll need to find space along the verge.
Parking has been somewhat eased by our neighbours ... who've gone away! This has given us a bit more space immediately behind our house, but not masses.

Turned up at the car park to find hardly anyone there, where is everybody I thought until I remembered we arrived unusually early. Needless to say the car park gradually filled as he minute ticked by except there was no sign of the Hare.

Just in time Groucho arrived in his car with a tale of woe to tell and a lesson to be learnt. Setting the trail from his car Groucho got out of his car and put a dot on the road only to notice the car door close. On trying to open the door he found he had locked himself out of the car the the engine running!!!!!!!!!!

“What shall I do?” he thought. I have to be at the start of the trail in 15 minutes.

To ensure he did not let the pack down he decided to make a sacrifice.

No he didn’t kill a rabbit over his car in the hope the god of “Hares” would magically open his car door. Instead he begged a hammer from a local house and smashed a quarterlight and gained back control of his “mean machine”.

Anyhow, on on with the trail. After I welcomed everybody Groucho set the pack off with the promise of some long short splits and a pile of broken glass.

After a short bit of road we hit a long short split. I took the short, once upon a time in the olden days that use to be unheard off…………honest!!!!

Thought I was doing quite well doing a gentle jog until suddenly like a finely tuned whippet, Whoopsie zoomed by.

A sweety stop was enjoyed just short of Bramford Speke and was followed by a quick long/short split.

Puss in Boots determinedly completed the trail despite having an operation to remove several pins from her wrist the previous Monday. Great effort, just don’t tell your doctor.

After another long/short split we arrived back at the start after almost exactly an hour on a well planned trail.

Thick black dots are the shorts and the red line the longs.

On Down: The Farmhouse Inn, Exmouth

As 39 gathered, Oh what a sight,
Coffin told us On On to the right.
Off on trail went the pack,
Full steam ahead along the track.

Onto the common we did go,
Boy was I being way too slow.
FRBs were way ahead,
There was I feeling dead.

A long short split did appear,
Walkers in the pack nowhere near,
Shorts went left, Longs went right,
I went left didn’t have all night.

Through a fish hook Radiohead he did run,
He didn’t come back, so not much fun.
You’re at Isca now I did state,
Please be good, and be a mate.

HT2 was running fast,
No way would she be last.
In front of pack she did run,
She was having so much fun.

Into the water Pongo did tear,
Angry fishermen they did swear.
No.2 she did shout,
The fisherman gave an ugly pout.

Itsy-Bitz was doing swell,
Watch that branch, tree, and prickle she did yell.
Coffin and X-Bitz held her tight,
They were all such a pretty sight.

From the bracken Whoopsie popped,
She was not gonna be stopped,
A little short cutting she did do!!
I was the only one, she thought, who knew.

Mother Rucka we did loose
We should have kept her on a noose
Different dots she did track
No wonder she was so far back

Across the stream was our goal,
Buzby was our acting troll.
Helping Harrietts across the mess,
Saving us from any distress.

On top the mound was a swing
Thought Wide Receiver might make it ping

Sweety stop was by a pond
Of this spot we were fond
Lush sweets and a scenic place
This we though was pretty ace

From the sweety stop we did go
Through the gate in a row
Fruity behind started to mumble
Cause she had a little stumble.

Up the hill another split
Poacher wasn’t feeling fit
Ahead on short he did fly
I couldn’t help but wonder why!!??

A lonely fish hook it did lay,
For Quick Rucka it did say.

A trail that coffin and Imelda laid
It was so nicely made,

RUN 750 - MAY THE FORTH BE WITH YOU

Last weeks hash in Crediton, and Slippery was the Hare
We’re told to come in Fancy dress – you had time to prepare!
Our seven hundred and fiftieth run, Stars Wars was the theme
Some didn’t bother to dress up – some went to the extreme!!

Harriets came as princess Leia – Luke Sky Walker’s sister
Soapy wore her silver boots (and yes – she got a blister!)
Darth Vader too was popular they gathered in their masks
And Whyno was the little one…… if anybody asks!!
Like many others Stix had made the effort to dress down!
Cant blame him tho’, we did look odd when running through the town
Whoopsie, Coffin and Do Do did, do as they always do
Screech and Buzby didn’t do it, and Ullage didn’t do it too!

Puss had ordered T shirts to commemorate the night
(Wide Receiver’s getting boxers can’t wait to see the sight!)
Hoodies, pants and jogging bottoms, with logo printed black
And ‘May the Forth be with you’ was written on the back

A visitor from Sweden came – his name - Standing Ovation
He wasn’t dressed as Yoda, but joined in our Space station
Pork Torpedo and Hornie came – visitors for certain
and gathered in one corner were the local hashers – Kirton
Don’t think they quite believed it, they looked like frightened mice
To see the cast of Star Wars gathered – (I saw them looking twice!)

Bell Toll Vader gathered circle – Luke Slippery Walker spoke
Tried to tell about the trail, and sweet stop….. that’s a joke!!
All laid in flour but sometimes chalk and on the left or right?
With long short splits and fish hooks, we all got lost that night!

I’m glad I only ran the short – I’m told was 5 miles long!
The others ran for 7.5 – (or 9 if you went wrong!!!)
We started off across the road, looked up and down the street
Shortie shouted “on on” to that guy with great big feet!
Twiggy followed on behind Twice Knightly in white dress
“I think potatoes grow on trees” said little Woof Woof (bless)

At last we came to countryside, beyond the cottage thatch
Through kissing gates and dry footpaths came P.P. and Damp Patch
Then on through grassy fields we ran all hazardous and rocky
The Kirton boys show short cuts now to Imelda, FF and Spocky
Whyno Vader’s breathing getting laboured, his oxygen all gone
Had miraculous recovery, when No.2 said “Ill turn you on!”

Slippery warns to stop and look, before you cross the railway track
and tell short cuts to Hornie, and Soapy struggling at the back!
The arse in front to spur us on we thought was Melon Picker’s
But as we got up closer saw was Puss in her new knickers!

We ménaged (a trios) to miss the mud, the shiggy and the sweets
And after climbing cow dung hill, returned to run the streets.
Slippery gave a history lesson, said made wine from wild pear
Then round the corner saw O.H. thank God we’re nearly there

No time for circle in the car park, like the normal way
Everyone had gone to pub - Down downs inside today
Quick Rucka wore his brand new top with hood pulled over head
I liked the one that X Bits wore - almost the same but red!

Sir General Redvers Buller could be a new hash name
Named after pub in Crediton (what a claim to Fame!!)
The food was great and not to pricey, most people ate and drank
The down downs given – one to Slippery for great run we thank
Wide Receiver got a down down - pulling pussies on the run!
And all the visitors drank together their down downs down in one!
So I hope I’ve mentioned everyone – even Paul? in Blue
And Woof Woof - you got a down down - just for being you!!!

lilo lil did getthe words to me on time however I have been so busy I forgot to put them up, sorry!

From the start we all checked in the wrong direction! After plenty of milling around the FRBs charged off unimpeded up a steep track, Puss and I panting over our lack of fitness (tho she has a reasonable excuse!)
A quick check took us onto a road, a devious dead end/backcheck and a distant baying of “on UP” was heard. Crashing faithfully into terrifically dense undergrowth, we were brought up short by unchartered territory and a healthy respect for our skin. Almost immediately the front group disappeared, bobbing away like Edward Scissorhands (or Phoebe from Friends!) and we were left blinking owlishly around for the next dot. Xbitz and Larks were particularly adept at gingerly picking their way through holly only to take one unwary step and vanish swearing from sight. Larks employed rugger tactics of old on a young sapling and looked just as surprised as we did. With more fastidious tiptoeing our way through the woods, we began to make up our own calls –“Whip back” being fairly common.
Apparently there were only fleeting glimpses of Quick Rukka and Woof Woof, as they took it in turns to plug badger holes!
After perhaps half an hour of perilous meandering (the penchant for uphill and brambles being helpfully paraded by Imeldas hemorrhaging) squeezing and twisting our way out, gently shepherded by Strongbow, we heard the distant clamouring for sweets. On sight of our head torches they kindly set up a tumultuous racket of “ON ON!”s, which although very interesting, didn’t speed us up any!
The regroup was well placed and welcomed, the FRBs having been there for only 5 or 6 minutes. Twice Knightly stopped abruptly not long after, and pensively pulled an entire branch out of her shoe. “I think I’ve stood on a nail” she explained, then held up an inch long viciously sharp thorn that had punctured right through her sole, resulting in a good sized blood blister. Her shoes were full of holes anyway!
At one point not far off that regroup the FRBs heard a rumbling noise, which were horses galloping around after hearing them. PP told everyone that it was buffalo.
A relatively safe second section of track took us to the Sweetie Stop, all of us balancing precariously on a BMX playpark, Quick Rukka showing off his agility, then and on home.
Chinese for £5 went down very well, masses of food and very prompt service (you should have seen PP’s crestfallen face) and our dinner mats told us our birth year animals. Funny how one can gloss over the less flattering aspects of our personalities and agree indulgently with the nice bits ;o)
Well done Imelda, another great night out with friends.

Wednesday 2nd February Rockbeare Hill cp

We arrived just as the rain had stopped, Lilo Lil couldn’t wait to tell Wide Receiver and FF all about my new shoes. I didn’t expect them to go unnoticed as they were bright yellow. It was a mild night compared to recent trails so no more frozen mud. It was time to circle up as we were welcomed by Bell Toll to run 737. Then it was over to Odd Bitz the hare.... It’s laid in flour (cheer), and on the right (cheer), It’s three and on (cheer), and two long short splits (cheer), two re-groups (cheer), one is a sweetie stop (cheer), “how many of us are there? I’ve only got 23 sweets” Luckily there were 19 of us.
We were set off into the woods to find our first check and then On On to a long short split. The longs met up with the shorts where the trail took us to a road, we ran down to find our next check, On On was called up into the woods. The trail led us out of the woods in to a cul-de-sac where we were greeted by the first of many fish hooks. As the FRB’s caught up we reached our first re-group. It didn’t take long for everyone to catch up, and then we were on a check. On On took us through the housing estate and another check to get up back in the woods. We were then brought out on to a road and the check took us up to the sweetie stop. Much to the FRB’s dismay the luxury sweeties were already being eaten by the other hashers before they reached the sweetie stop. PP and Busby swapped lights because she couldn’t see where she was going.
On On was up the hill and back in to the woods again there were lots of roots and twists and turns around trees before it was out on to a road, and down a steep hill were we found a fish hook right at the bottom; so it was back up the hill for 5 of us, Clever Dick was counting. When we returned we were on another check which took us to a T junction, where Quick Rukka found a large drawing of a school boy willy on the inside of a bus shelter, he liked it that much he had to go back for a second look to show more of us. On On was called down through West Hill, it was the most up market hash I’ve been on. The next check took us up a track to the second long short split. The long was very stile-ish taking us along farm tracks and country lanes and in to fields full of floating green eyes that sounded like sheep. After the fields it was back on a long track which led to the road, it was On Home to the car park. A brilliant trail, thank you Odd Bitz.

Awards night words.

AWARDS NIGHT 26TH JANUARY 2011

Last week was Isca awards night, and I got one of them
Scribe of the year I heard you cheer – so here I go again.

It started off a normal run - Great Western by the station
Through the streets of Exeter fantastic hash location,
The air that night was freezing cold, brass monkeys were around
We parked the car out on the road ‘cos car park cost £4!
Next to arrive was Spocky bitz, - On pavement parked his wheels
“Put your hands up” Bell Toll shouts “so we can order meals”
Beer and a curry for a fiver I think ill eat tonight
(I hadn’t eaten much all day so I knew I’d be alright!)
We gathered round and circled up was good to see so many
Out came Peanut from the pub (shed been to spend a penny!)
The trail of course was excellent - laid by Stix in flour
All on the right and clearly marked. It took about an hour
Off we all ran towards the town, and checking as we went
Some ran along and some went up - Which was the way he meant
Street lights lit our way en-route to Iron Bridge, that night
No time to stop and purchase trainers (although Imelda might)
Down the steps then up a hill to street Bartholomew
Near picture house, (just one seat left for me and Number 2!)
We’d try to see the Kings speech there, I’ll recommend to you
To see this film, a brilliant one - but book it at the Vue!!
Gravity took us the meandering route, through people lying dead
At re-group told now run the long or take the short instead…..
which ran along the river bank, the sweet stop we did reach
where waiting there with number 2, was Buzby and Screech.
Over the river, along the Quay and back towards the town
FF and PP driving past shout “see you at On Down”
Back at the cars we changed our clothes, the athletes checked their time
But I don’t care how long I took, I need larger and lime……
to accompany my chicken curry, at a price I could afford
we gobbled up then went upstairs to see who gets what award.

We sat in lines all formally - front table Bell Toll and Stix
Old awardees open envelopes - Larks Vomit takes the pics
It started out quite orderly polite claps for girls and boys
But laughter, shouts and whistles soon we’re making too much noise
Complaints below and from above, people asleep in bed
Barmaid sent upstairs to say “Please whisper now instead!!!”
It wasn’t easy to keep quiet ‘cos cheers they were deservin’
A popular harriet, lovely PP got voted Vestal Virgin

Wide Receiver then was voted Centurion of the year
Well deserved, a brilliant hasher, had enormous cheer

Newcomer went to Lilo Lill, (voted by the males)
FF and PP got a shirt for laying the best trails

The On Down of the year went to Topsham Rugby Club
The food is great, the welcome friendly – better than a pub

Gm’s award to Night Screecher for doing more than all
And Woof Woof gets the toilet seat to hang up on her wall.

And not forgetting little me - I drank my yard of beer
But we are All special hashers and we All make a special year!

another great trail from Odd-Bitz tonight, thank you.

I havebeen set the words for last week so here they are. Cheers Puss.

On receiving a call of help from Coffin and telling her why I had to pass, I offered up the assistance of the lovely Boots… (I think he always wanted to lay Coffin!) We all arrived and parked up and got ready for the off! Narcissus arrived late to the circle and as soon as he was ready we were called to check by Coffin and Boots and off we went!

I being slightly incapacitated having both wrists in casts from the escapades of Soapy’s 50th birthday hash and barn dance I have enlisted the help of Boots to write the words.

So of up the cliff everyone ran, (except Screech, Bell Toll and myself) Tamper calling on on until he came to a back check very close to the obelisk, muttering he had to run back. On on through fox holes and down to the roundabout where me and Screech found a check…. sadly it was a check for later on.. Whoops sorry for confusing Spockey and Tamper!

We crossed over to the lifeboat centre and the trail hit the beach a select group of walking wounded headed up the promenade and on on was called to the cricket club. On to a long short split, only 3 people did the longs and these brave souls were Stix, Spockey and Boots. They caught us up running behind the cricket club. After Coffin helped me down a frozen slope we found the sweet stop!! Xbitz was feeding me sweets and we started to play on the climbing frames.

On on was called as we ran across the mere. A few potholes and a lot of fishhooks later we made it to the lifeboat centre. Here there was a long short split. The longs headed up Gore lane and up on to the cliffs, Buzby running like a trooper! After some evil fish hooks one by one they all made it to the closing circle.
Whilst waiting for Woodpecker, Spocky ‘borrowed’ a lighter of some ladies and lit two Chinese lanterns and sent them out across the sea. I hope everyone made a wish!

No. 2 took the reigns and did the Down Downs;

I am very sorry that i have not posted in a while. In the real world i have to work and it takes up alot of my time in the silly season.

So Lark's Vomit did do the words for last week and i am posting them now.

Some 24 runners gathered in the car park (very full car park) on a freezing but warmer night. Lots to be said for the odd town run in bad weather.. “no complaints from anyone” Best was getting there early and watching hashers arrive and play “whacky races” around the car park. Award for the night goes to PP and FF who parked in Tiverton.

The usual briefing ensured from Balls Up --- “Flour, on the right, one and on, fish hooks, long short split……then off we go. Apart from Boots who got injured on maneuvers in the Walkabout Pub in Cardiff and Emelda who has a bad ankle

Great start to the trail. Up through the cathedral square, and on through the bright Christmas displays on the new fancy and expensive shopping centre. Running past Wagamamas, Café Rouge, Nandos was pretty hard. Full of girls in party dresses getting pissed at Xmas parties. So, here we are, “Hash” loonies out running in the freezing cold while the world get rat arsed!

Then it was my turn. An offer I could not refuse. An offer I have dreamed about (mostly wet) for many years. PP asked me if I would like to get into her bright red, thong cut, silky panties (I made no note of details). Who could say no!!!!!

Anyway more of this later. More hashers began to arrive…Whoopsie very fetching in pink, Puss and X Bitz brightly coloured and fetching. I had my doubts about Odd Bitz and his orange wig. It just did not match his shell suit…do they still make these?
Great to see Strongbow and Woof Woof also there early and tempted to head straight for the pub. Strongbow ran with Woof Woof on his back!

Down Downs were awarded by No2 and FF to Balls Up as mentioned over. To Strongbow for having fantasies about flour circles, Quick Rukka for being disguised as Bin Laden, and Woodpecker for getting his pecker up too often. The trail was excellent and Slippery recorded it as 4.75 miles.
Shorts were short, longs ran, regroups kept us together and I missed all the fish hooks. All I needed was for Lilo Lil to be there with her mate Emma and it would have been heaven.

Finally, back in the St Georges “Meeting house” where we all began to warm up and they gave us the gallery upstairs.

Ideal for hashing lots of cheap food served quickly and cheap booze consumed very quickly.

An ideal night at the end of one of the coldest bits of weather we have had for 40 years.

Well, after nearly getting away with it, Wide Receiver kindly sprung the words on me about 10 minutes before I left the pub, cheers, although he had just let out a brilliant quote – more on that later!

So, bearing that in mind, I wasn’t spending much of my attention on the trail gathering evidence with which to pad out the words! Most of the trail was spent gossiping – why are you not surprised!
So, we circled up, with virtually everyone layering up with hats, scarves, gloves, 2 pairs in my case! All except Strongbow, obviously he is the only tough one (or mad one) prancing around in SHORTS!

Visitors and newbies were welcomed and the hares: Quick Rukka and Wide Receiver gave us the low-down; which consisted of, amongst other things… 5 long/short splits, sweetie stop (cheer)and… surprise stop, (even bigger cheer!)

So, off we went, many of the back people getting confused with everyone zipping off and calling on-on in all directions. Eventually a consensus was made and the running continued. Buzby found himself at this point, on the wrong side of a ditch, so, in his wisdom decided he was going to leg it down one side and hope the momentum would get him up the other side of the steep bank. Now I did physics at school and vaguely remember something about momentum, so I kind of knew where he was coming from but….. And I was right, it didn’t quite work! On the third try, with a ‘little’ bit of hauling and dragging, he finally made it up that bank!

Then we were off up the hill to the first stop – the surprise stop, of luscious mulled wine – good call on such a night and absolutely fantastic that we didn’t have to wait long for it!

So, trail-wise, it was cold, bloomin freezing actually, on numerous occasions my thoughts were cast back to last year when people were stranded on Haldon Hill, spending the night in their cars, wondering what the hell we were thinking – well, we don’t think, we’re hashers, thinking takes the fun out of it surely!

Cold, but definitely a good one, I found myself part of the walking wounded at the back of the pack, another chance for more gossiping – yay!

Circle-wise, I don’t really know who got down-downs because Screech and I were short-cutters and the circle was nearly over by the time we got there. By the way I don’t really call that much of a short cut, I think maybe we entered a parallel universe and came back twenty minutes later, either that or Wide Receiver doesn’t know his shorts from his longs. But apparently Wide Receiver can’t tell his humans from his farm animals as he did once ‘do it with a sheep’ so believe what you will!

On on til next time, and sorry about the crappy words, but it’s the thought that counts, and I thought about doing a fancy-arse poem, but then chose not too!!! Blame Wide Receiver for leaving it til the last minute,

Damp Patch's Darn Good Wednesday Weather Forecast:

Don't let the rain this morning put you off. By early afternoon it will be clear and dry (although maybe not underfoot) and dare I say it the sun may even make an appearance.
This evening promises to be dry and clear. The heavy wind will drop right down once the rain clears through and the temperature will remain pleasantly warm, by which I mean not freezing, all evening.

Car Parking:
Hornbeam gardens is a small road off Parsonage Street with free car parking spaces along it. It is signposted as a car park (on very small signs) from the bottom end of the high street but it's probably worth checking on a map if you are not familiar with it. We will circle up somewhere along Hornbeam Gardens.

Words for 10.11.10. No.2 & PP Birthday Hash

I knew what i wanted to dress as but had a little trouble finding what i wanted from the limited charity shops in Bovey Tracey however with a little bit of squeezing i sort of managed to find something to fit, i now had to grow the tache and burns!!

I pulled into the car park at the Huntsman Inn in Ide, early with 1970's style tune blaring from the 8 track in the Vauxhall Viva. It was cold but I'm a tough guy and had my cutting edge cream, polo neck, skin tight( cos the ladies love it) jumper and my new beige slacks(that were not a bit forgiving), just what you needed in 2 degrees C.

No.2 was in the car park too as was Soapy and a couple of new chicks with very fetching silver flares and great looking pink and green hair. We froze as we waited for the rest of the pack but the 8 track was pumping and I danced to keep warm. Eventuality hashers gathered some dresses very oddly the other in normal cool gear. We had a quick circle with a few words from Bell Toll and the hares were called into the middle to brief us. FF was looking great, he had washed his lovely flowing locks that he refuses to cut, I suppose going from hippie to glam rocker is an easy transition. PP too look smashing and took a shine to the ever cool, ladies man, WR, tell ya what guys, if you want the girls to fall at your knees, grow a mustache, they love it;-{]

Enough of the tips back to the hash. Quick Rukka and I made our way through the village and so we were up front. I knew the village reasonably well and thought that we would end up going through the ford but we went the other way but we then went back and bloody hell was that water cold. Now don't forget I had dressed for the event but water went everywhere, but my hand suffered the most, they almost went purple! We carried on and we came out by the foot bridge that goes over the A30 and into Exeter. Slipper ran through dots without calling and came back saying that the trail didn't go that way, it did so we ran onto a long short split.

The longs went up the long hill toward St Thomas cross and then cut around to met up with the shorts and we made our way down into Exeter. Screech got a fish hook just before the Sweetie Stop. I was expecting Yorkies, Aztec bars, Flying Saucers, Dib-Dab or maybe Spangles but we had some futuristic looking treats.

On we ran the Longs once again splitting off and we had a big loop around the West Exe School and back in towards Ide up the back lane. QR, Boots in Puss Slippery and I then came to a Check, QR and I got this one right and ahead we came to a water hazard. We looked for the marks and found them going up the stream, under the footbridge and up the bank, this water, although cold was welcome on our warm feet but many hashers chickened out and dodged this part of the trail, well done to Buzby who made it too.

And the the long run into the village began. And so did the fish hooks again. I remember passing Puss in Bootless, X Bitz and Spokey a few times, Spokey was giving we a hard time because I had a sweaty crack bu I'm a man and that's what happens!

Back at the car park the down downs went to No.2 and PP cos they were birthday girls.
